The Hotline Help ListThe hotline now has a list of AA members who can help you with the technical questions around getting to online meetings. Call 802-229-5100 and ask for someone on the list of tech helpers to call you back. |
Before You BeginIf you have a computer, table, or smartphone you can add the free Zoom App (https://zoom.us/download) ahead of time. Join 5 to 10 minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin. This gives you time to make sure everything works okay. Plus there are usually a few other people joining early and you can practice unmuting and chatting, then muting again. |
How to Join a MeetingThere are different ways to join a meeting. If you are on a browser and see the https link, simply click on that link and you will be brought to the meeting. If you can only dial in with a phone, dial the number to the corresponding meeting, and at the prompt enter the meeting ID number. If you have an app open and click "Join a Meeting" you can just enter the meeting ID number. |
In the MeetingOnce you are in the meeting, there are a few things to know. The interface on each device type is slightly different but all have similar features: 1. You can mute and unmute your microphone. You should always make sure your mic is muted when not sharing. Often the host will have set all to mute when they join. The mute button may be at the top or bottom of your picture. On a phone * 6 will mute and unmute. 2. You can enable or disable your video. 3. There is a button to raise your hand. Often the chair of the meeting will also look for people who are actually raising their hand. 4. You may be able to switch from "speaker view" to "gallery view." With speaker view the person speaking appears in a larger window. Gallery view allows you to see the most people possible on your screen. You can scroll from one screen to another to see everyone. 5. Phones and tablets can be held in the horizontal position, and your image should shift to fill more of your window. |
